Title:
Der Closed-Orbit der Elektronen-Stretcher-Anlage ELSA: Simulation, Messung und Korrektur
(The Closed Orbit of the Electron Stretcher Accelerator ELSA: Simulation, Measurement and Correction)

Abstract:
For the planned acceleration of polarized electrons the closed orbit correction system of the Electron Stretcher Accelerator ELSA has been improved. Simulations have been done to get a deeper understanding how the ELSA closed orbit behaves, and how to improve the correction facilities. Work has been done on the ELSA beam position monitors, and the development of a new narrow band signal processing electronics has been started. Software for controlling the beam position monitors and corrector magnets, as well as for calculating the corrector magnet strengthes for the desired closed orbit correction, has been developed to work under the new ELSA control system. Closed orbit measurements and corrections have been performed to test the software, the hardware and the simulation results. A beam position measurement method using the variation of the focusing strength of a quadrupole has been tested.
